The ills of the world have come crashing down on a global scale in the past two years and just when we think we are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, more and more hardships rise to the surface.
Often times, when we are far away from the heart of the matter, we tend to block out the situation due to the sheer overwhelming nature of not knowing how to help. But whether it be physically, financially, emotionally, or spiritually, every individual can help and do their part within their own bounds.
How can prayer help? For those who seek to bring God’s presence closer, to take refuge in his all-encompassing comfort, we can pray deeply not only for our own needs, but equally for those outside of our lives, strangers, and even countries as a whole, who need help, guidance, faith to go on and peace in their lives.
Even when we lack faith, or have very little faith in the good of the world, we must learn to trust God with our prayers, to seek his encouragement, even in the smallest moments of calm: “Because of your little faith,” He told them. “For I assure you: If you have little faith the size of a mustard seed, you will tell this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you” (Matthew 17:20).
When in doubt of what to do, light a candle for your own peace of mind, for those out there who desperately need help and the power of prayer, and ultimately, for the peace of the world.
